Fortunate One

What could have been, isn’t.  There are no real “what-if-I-had…” because it didn’t.  If I had, I wouldn’t say it.

Life is a series of choices, happenstances, and consequences.  There sometimes isn’t a clear choice mostly because we complicate our lives with scenarios involving people or situations that are really not as important in our lives as we think they are.

Take financial security.  So many are invested - quite literally - in saving money in several forms.  Pile it all up, as high as can be.  Check that stock market daily, maybe obsessively on the hour. In the meantime, life happens.  Sickness, job loss, births, deaths, weddings, funerals.  What was so important?  Oh, yeah, more money.

This moment, right now, think this:  Here I am up to now.  All of my life’s choices, happenstances, and consequences brought me to this moment.  But what if I …?  No.  No.  No.  Too late.  I am who I am right now.  You are who you are right now.

Now is the time to ask yourself “what is important?”

Now is the time to prioritize for the rest of your life.

Don’t be afraid.  Surely, you’ve learned something along the way.  Certainly there is more to life than accumulating fortune.   Theresa M
